Our founder, Daisy, is just as passionate about her skin and makeup routine as she is about styling and fashion. Here, she shares what she’s got on maximum rotation every single day. As she says, “Sometimes the best accessory is a healthy glow.”
I love taking care of my skin. I think it started early for me because I had bad acne as a teen. My day starts with a clean face and I alternate between my current favorite, Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleaning Balm and CeraVe Cleanser. Elemis is a total luxury experience and it makes me feel radiant right away.
I then splash on Keil’s Ferulic Brew which also adds a little glow and is supposed to help with texture (my main problem these days)—And I love the way it wakes up my skin. To moisturize I use Tata Harper’s Water-Lock Moisturizer which ldoes exactly what the name says!
I usually wake up with puffy eyes and Sisley Eye Contour Mask immediately fixes this.
As I get older I want to wear less makeup, but I have redness and spots that I want to cover up. I had coffee with a friend who’s older than me and I commented on how pretty her skin looked. She said people tell her the same thing every time she uses Lune + Aster CC Cream tinted sunscreen—So of course I immediately bought it and now it’s my everyday go-to. it’s also multi-purpose: sunscreen, coverage, hydration, color correction and a dewy glow! I then go over some red areas with my new favorite obsession that everyone seems to be talking about: No Makeup Makeup. It’s so good for coverage without looking like anything is on your skin and I like to use the brush they sell separately.
The often-sold-out Chanel Bronzing Cream is the absolute best for a glowy “tan”. I also just discovered a great powder bronzer from DIBS. I like it because it blurs my complexion and has antioxidants so I feel like it’s also skin care.
Then if I still need a little pop of color, I add Westman Atelier’s Baby Cheeks in Poppet. It’s from celebrity makeup artist, Gucci Westman’s line, and this is the color she uses on Cameron Diaz to give her those cute, bright apple cheeks. And finally I use Vital Pressed Translucent Power on any greasy areas and I love how it keeps the glow while getting rid of any unwanted shine.
I’m terrible at applying eye shadow, but I like to accentuate my eyes so I’ve been using this trio of easy sticks . The colors are great for all eye colors, and they’re a bargain.
I’m obsessed with mascara and am fairly certain I have tried every brand available. I have a few favorites but right now my go-to is Ilia because it makes lashes perfectly fluffy and separated. I’m also an eyeliner junkie. My current go-to is also from Ilia.
And for lips I stick to an oil like this cult-favorite from RMS—I’m a moisture addict and the colors are all so pretty.
My frizzy, naturally curly, insanely dry hair is a problem that probably needs its own blog. After 55 years I have finally found two products I love. One is Roz hair oil. The Willow Glen Pre-Wash (it smells amazing) is supposed to be washed out after you use it, but my hair is so dry it drinks it up and I leave it in. It is a little heavy so when I want something lighter I use Lolavie’s Lightweight Hair Oil (also smells amazing).
I love a body butter and Mutha’s is thick and smells like lemons. It’s melts into my skin and it’s a great size for travel.
After washing with Elemis before bed, (and sometimes leaving it on for a few minutes like a mask), I apply a thin layer of TNS Serum. I’ve been using this product since I was in my early thirties. Back then I was a freelance video producer and produced a testimonial video for Skinmedica and they gave me a case of the TNS Recovery Complex. Of course now I have to buy it (it’s pricey), but I feel like it’s actually slowed down the aging process because of the growth factors.
I then slather on Tula Beauty Sleep Overnight Repair Treatment. Whenever I use this I wake up with extra bouncy skin. I seriously notice the difference if I run out or I’m traveling and don’t have it. It’s sad. It’s 25% off right now so I am stocking up.
I just started using this eye cream and I swear it’s doing stuff. My eyelids seem tighter and bright plus I have fewer lines. The before and afters on the web site are very impressive so I’m sticking with it.
