Style Hack of the Week: Layer Like a Pro
It's easier than you'd think
If your layering acumen is limited to throwing a sweater over a button-down or a turtleneck under a down vest, this is your sign to branch out. You’ve probably never thought about layering two shirts, but look how cool it looks, above with that crisp, white shirt (note the hidden placket) buttoned up under that perfect denim shirt. We love two cotton button-downs together—Maybe bold stripes over a solid—this is such a good blue! Tip: If you want less bulk in the sleeves, try a sleeveless shirt as your under layer.
We’ve been seeing lots of lingerie layering, thanks to The Row, and the most effortless is a shorter lacy slip over jeans or trousers, with another piece on top of that (we love the sporty sweater, here). And if this feels like too much for you, try a lace-trimmed cami peeking out from a deep V cardigan.
You can also get clever with your shirts and only button the top, leaving whatever’s underneath showing (in this case, a white baby tee). And the brown blazer elevates the whole look. You can also achieve this with a little denim vest underneath (we love how this one fits like a traditional waistcoat).
