Settling for “OK”
Part 3 of our exploration of common pitfalls that create excess in our wardrobes and how best to avoid them.
Have you ever been in the dressing room, tried something on and loved how it looked on you? You know that feeling when you actually love it so much you don’t want to take it off? We should feel like this (or very close to it) when we make a new purchase. Be picky and patient. If you’re settling for “just ok”, you may be building an uninspiring wardrobe. Trust us–There are great pieces out there that will fit and flatter you.
The easiest way to find the best of the best is to look for the best sellers and top rated items, especially when it comes to your Core Capsule (your foundation of essentials).
Here are some tried and true best sellers that we’ve curated (we’ve tried them too and give them our stamp of approval).
This Quince cashmere turtleneck is under $100, a great weight and flattering fit. And we’re not the only ones who think so. It has over 2000 reviews with 5 stars. (The burgundy is such a gorgeous, rich color).
The Nili Belt is THE best belt and worth the price. It’s made in Italy and vintage inspired. It comes in gold or silver hardware.
These Frame jeans are the perfect spring/summer wash. The pocket placement is flattering on most booties and probably why these are a best seller.
Veronica Beard’s Jia driving loafer is a best seller—We think it’s because they look like Tod’s and are half the price. These are so comfortable!
Pistola Denim is known for their jeans, but they also make very cute dresses. The Bianca dress in tiramisu is a best seller and it’s so pretty on (the ruby stripe is cute too).
J. Crew knows how to do linen. Everyone is loving this season’s Carolina flare pants in stretch linen. They come in petite and tall. Their linen blazers are great too.
We’re kind of obsessed with a Breton stripe, and KULE makes one of our favorites. (20% off two right now).
